2020 Power Rankings: Week 4

Hello, hello, we find ourselves at yet another Thursday. And a bit later on this Thursday, so we’re going to hurry this intro along (as for some reason it is the bit I do last, go figure). The upside of it being later in the week is that we now know what is going on (or not as the case may be) in Tennessee and, as a result, in the LOC. Serves as a welcome reminder to enjoy what we have of this season, even if winning isn’t one of your team’s strong points. And enjoy the rankings because, well, even if they’re not that great, they’re free.

12. Patistan (0-3) Non-mover

Poor Patistan. Or more accurately, those poor players forced to play for them, despite knowing it will lead to their untimely downfall. It would appear that, as a result of this, the remaining fit players are taking games easy to limit the possibility of injury, which is good for fielding a starting roster! But bad for scoring points. Maybe Justin Jeffersen can bring some youthful invincibility?

11. Tom’s Tyrants (0-3) Down 1

A third loss in what felt like a rather important game, this team really can’t afford anymore this early in the season. The good news is that they put up a decent score without arguably their best players, perhaps things are starting to come together a little.

10. Forge Flyers (1-2) Down 3

The RB powered win that Forge Flyers have been promising but not quite delivering until now. That is the good news. The bad news is that those two RBs (and their stellar D) will not be playing this week, so Coach Leach will have to come up with a Plan B to build on the win. They don’t really deserve to move down, but the teams (formerly) below them all turned up last week, just the way it goes sometimes.

9. The Tuckfards (2-1) Up 1

Is there anything more synonymous with the LOC than Coach Merritt snatching a seemingly unlikely victory thanks to a massive performance? Yep, him doing it against Coach Burdett. I still can’t help but feel they are punching above their weight, but they are also top of their division, so what do I know?

8. Gridiron Gang (1-2) Up 1

A good week! And they needed it! Admittedly you could argue there was some above average scoring from certain players (Lockett, Wilson… etc.) but there was some solid stuff coming from would-be starters on the bench as well. I said I still believed, and they proved my faith right, now to build on it.

7. U R Gould (2-1) Up 1

Once again, Coach Gardner hasn’t quite gotten his best players on the pitch, but once again it didn’t matter and they picked up the win. From the first few games, Chubb looks like the only must start player on the roster, picking the best team each week is likely to cause a headache. But there are points available, so that’s good! Will Burrow get a game at some point?

6. IKSAN (2-1) Down 4

Patistan’s one true rival for injuries, they got pretty wrecked last week. Dak Prescott has been every bit the player they drafted and at this point he is carrying the rest of the team. It seems to have gotten to the stage where they may be starting players they hadn’t actually heard of prior to this season, just a hunch.

5. Buccing the Trend (2-1) Non-mover

Would they have won if DK hadn’t been so outrageously complacent? I’m no mathematician, but… no I’m really not, so I don’t know. Underwhelming outings from Fournette and Jacobs cost them on this occasion, but there is still plenty to like about this team. They’ve been given an opportunity to turn things around playing against a team missing half their team due to 2020ness, they’ll be hoping to take it.

4. Burdettinators (1-2) Down 1

On the face of it, another 100+ point week, but then you notice that over half came from James Robinson and the Colts D. Don’t get me wrong, two players/teams that having been pleasant surprises on the season so far, but not who Coach Burdett would be hoping was carrying his team. Let’s call in a down week (especially being against their old nemesis), better things to come, the Minshew experiment may be over.

3. Bear Necessities (2-1) Up 3

Not their most impressive week, outside of Josh Allen who is expanding on the meaning of the word impressive. Another win though and that is what counts. Dalvin Cook is starting to heat up (is that a pun? I’m claiming it) though and that is very encouraging, this team has definitely got another gear yet.

2. Two Broke Gurleys (2-1) Up 2

Will likely be feeling a bit hard done by I’d imagine, that’s reflected by the move up the rankings despite the loss. Still a very good week and continuing to prove they mean business. Coach Nunn is continuing to add to and improve his team using the waivers. Also, Kamara is a god, he is jogging his way towards CMC’s dual threat crown.

1. The Dream Team (3-0) Non-mover

And another team rewarding me for my faith. Deservedly remaining at the top of the rankings and the league. Everything about this makes me want to say that DangeRuss can’t keep it up, but I equally see absolutely no reason to bet against him. Probably based on experience from previous playoff years, Coach Nathwani is managing the injuries well (so far).

And you thought we hurried through the intro? This is it for the outro, good luck everyone!
