2019 Power Rankings: Week 8

2019 Power Rankings: Week 8

Hello, one and all! Welcome to yet another edition of the Power Rankings, courtesy of your EDOTLOCCA. It’s not exactly midweek, but at least it is better than Sunday evening, this article seems to be coming in at near random times. Well, unlike my scheduling, the LOC is ticking along nicely, no one is quite out yet, but plenty of teams are in the last chance saloon. Let’s find out how everyone’s doing…

-

12. Buccing The Trend (3-4) – No Change

A win is a win! And don’t you just love to see a good ol’ fashioned 60 pointer. The injury bug has hit them hard and they need to get some players fit, fast. Will Sanu do the classic midseason switch to the Pats, better become a superstar? That would be handy! Kirk Cousins hasn’t gotten them on the front foot in Week 8.

11. Gridiron Gang (2-5) – No Change

You’d be questioning how they won that one until you scrolled down to defense and special teams. The Jags were a good stream. And Nuk turned up! Which unfortunately for Gridiron Gang was a much bigger surprise than the rest of his offensive players doing… er… nothing.

10. Patistan (2-5) – No Change

It looked so good for so long in Week 7, but they just didn’t have the legs. Jordan Howard seems to have turned back into what everyone thought he was and Bell’s TD endzone avoidance scheme continues. This has the feeling of a team that is going to put it all together just a little too late.

9. Hausch-Kan kick a ball (2-5) – No Change

Oh dear, less than 50… Unfortunately that could have happened a couple of other times too, but Wilson didn’t bail them out this time. They need some players to find some form and they haven’t got a lot of time left. Will it be Julio, Kupp, Golladay? Anyone of them has potential.

8. Burdettinators (2-5) – No Change

Wow, they were unlucky, losing two players early in their games. The rest of their players didn’t exactly step up though and now DJ’s injury could cause them selection issues in Week 8 too. They really need to win as well – unless they’re working off last year’s design? It was pretty sweet.

7. The Dream Team (3-4) – No Change

It was a nice run of W’s, but they crashed back down a little in Week 7. Losing Johnson for the season was the really disgusting icing on the truly gross cake. At least Zeke and Diggs looked good again, this team is severely lacking in depth though, they can’t afford down weeks from their big names – or bye weeks.

6. Tom’s Tyrants (4-3) – Down 1

Finaly someone who moved in the rankings! Yeah, a poor week ruined the head of steam they had going. The score wasn’t terrible but it was undermined by failing to score a single TD, even at QB. They’ll be hoping for a bounceback game to keep them in the playoff hunt.

5. 4 Weddings and a Few Newsome (5-2) – Up 1

We’ll let them off the slightly sketchy name considering it is for a pretty good reason. Hey, there’s no chance of them reading this column this weekend anyway. Shall we just move on…?

Nahh. They jumped up to 5-2 and remain firmly in the playoff spots. They have plenty of nice pieces too, they just need to keep getting the right guys on the field.

4. IKSAN (4-3) – No Change

Back on track, thanks yet again to the three headed RB beast. And, true to form, Cook has gotten them straight back on the front foot for Week 8. They had a wobble in the second quarter of the season, but they proved they are still a force to be reckoned with during a generally low scoring week.

3. Bear Necessities (4-3) – Down 2

Well, they claimed they were cursed after they got put top of the rankings annnnd then they lost two straight. I guess they’ll be happy to see themselves back down the tables? Maybe. The team doesn’t look as strong as it did previously, but they are the masters of papering over cracks.

2. The Tuckfards (6-1) – Up 1

Over half the points to DST and Kicker? Check. Get the win? Check. Classic Tuckfards doing things their own way. The Patriots DST continue to be the cheat code hidden behind the big name players. Will Mahomes being out cause them any problems? They seem to be capable of overcoming everything else.

1. Forge Flyers (5-2) – Up 1

Well, Murray was a pretty handy pickup. It’s a short term point source, but it doesn’t matter when you pick up critical wins with it. Even without Run CMC, they put up the high score on the week. This is a team that was built in the draft and has been made better through waivers.

-

Another week in the books and, to be quite honest, a nice easy one in the rankings, not many movers at all. That’s what happens when a league-wide low scorer makes 90 a likely game winning total. Let’s hope for some bigger numbers this week, no one really likes defensive dominance. Peace out.

2019 Power Rankings: Week 7

2019 Power Rankings: Week 7

Happy Sunday people! Well, we missed TNF (by quite a way) and the 6pm games have now kicked off as well, so this is going to be a proper speed round! Every week is an important week in the power Rankings! No time to lose…

-

12. Buccing The Trend (2-4) – Down 1

The QB roulette has begun, they did well with their first spin though. The Chargers need to improve, Gordon needs to start scoring some points.

11. Gridiron Gang (1-5) – Down 2

Better, but no cigar. Not even a vape pen. Hell, they’d take one of those candy sticks we all used to pretend to smoke as kids at this point. Freeman finally put in a performance worthy of his draft spot.

10. Patistan (2-4) – Up 2

Tyreek is back and making plays, I said if this team got healthy they would start to get some results. Expensive trade piece Adams would help further.

9. Hausch-Kan kick a ball (2-4) – Down 1

Wilson stopped last week looking ugly. Next couple of weeks are crucial as this season is slipping away from them.

8. Burdettinators (2-4) – Down 3

One way or another Aaron Jones looks set to define this season for them. Lamar Jackson is a star, but the rest of the roster is a rollercoaster.

7. The Dream Team (3-3) – Up 3

Last week showed that this team was just missing a little spark and Diggs is more than capable. Now for some consistency.

6. John Potter (4-2) – Up 1

Saved by Matt Ryan but putting together an impressive record. Their skill players are better than they showed in Week 6.

5. Tom’s Tyrants (4-2) – Up 1

I said last week that they were only a few decent streams away from having something. Well they finally put up over 100 points, if they can prove that this is the real team and not the one from the first few weeks, they could trend up further.

4. IKSAN (3-3) – Down 2

Hmm, another bad week and now they have dropped off the pace. Early season top performers seem to have slowed down a little early.

3. The Tuckfards (5-1) – Up 1

Barkley is back but now Mahomes is out and soon the Patriots D will have to play some real teams. Still, deserving of a league-leading record.

2. Forge Flyers (4-2) – Up 1

Nice, well-rounded performance despite the bye week misery. Austin Hooper is an under the radar stud.

1. Bear Necessities (4-2) – No Change

A decent week an unlucky to lose. Chubb is looking better and better, which will keep Coach happy.

-

Right, glad we got that sorted! See you again in a few days, good luck right now! Peace out.

2019: Half Way House

Whether you need support in how to keep ahead of the game, or how not to languish in despair if you're far behind, the half way house edition of the LOC Report is here to help! The LOC regular season reaches its halfway point this Sunday, and Commissioner Stubbs and Co Host Chris Leach will preview the midpoint matchups, but not before reviewing the week 6 games.

2019 Power Rankings: Week 6

2019 Power Rankings: Week 6

Good evening gents! Okay, maybe at this point Thursday has just become a thing. TNF and TNPR, ideal combo. Little bit of history passed this week with the first ever Tottenham Bowl, but that isn’t why you’re here, you’re here to find out how your team is doing in the eyes of the all-knowing EDOTLOCCA. Well, far be it from me to ruin the fun, read on good people.

-

12. Patistan (1-4) – No Change

Ugh, it is getting harder to feel sorry for them when they continue to flatter to deceive. They spent big money on Howard and he was alright, Adams was the big trade acquisition and he got injured, Coach Allen might be feeling a little bit of 2018 deja vu. If they can get healthy and make some smart pickups, they can get more competitive, they just need to hurry up about it.

11. Buccing The Trend (2-3) – Down 1

That is unfortunate. The win would have been far from impressive, but it looked like they had the league leaders exactly where they wanted them. The Melvin Gordon homecoming was… underwhelming… but he was on the pitch at least! And Adam Thielen made an appearance too! For a 61 point week and a loss, there are a surprising number of positives to take from this, and they finally kicked Baker (as recommended here), overdue!

10. The Dream Team (2-3) – Down 1

A win is a win, however you get it. Definitely promising to see Ertz get into the endzone and Zeke continuing to well even in a negative gamescript. Mixon and Diggs are continuing to hamstring this team though and the bench aren’t setting the world on fire. Work still to be done.

9. Gridiron Gang (1-4) – Down 3

Aaaand, after another ‘meh’ week, as promised, down they go. Lots looked good on paper, but it certainly did not jump off the page and dazzle anyone. Coach Stubbs Jr. will be hoping that Lindsay just showed a glimpse off what’s to come, but that Denver attack has been hard to trust. Freeman is starting to show up, but Hopkins remains on the milk carton.

8. Ellotta Points This Week (2-3) – Down 3

Shame they didn’t call themselves ‘Ellotta Points on Thursday Night’. What looked so good coming into the weekend, ended up with the most one-sided game of the season. That wasn’t all on them, but the issues remain the same, this team’s foundations are built on inconsistency.

7. Lord Of The Ringrams (3-2) – Up 4

Right, I have been too harsh on this team for too long, they definitely put it all together in Week 5. The core of the team continues to look solid and the Thomas trade looks like amazing timing. Thanks partly to that aforementioned trade as well, this is the deepest roster Coach Nunn has ever had.

6. Tom’s Tyrants (3-2) – Up 1

I said last week that they were only a few decent streams away from having something. Well they finally put up over 100 points, if they can prove that this is the real team and not the one from the first few weeks, they could trend up further.

5. Burdettinators (2-3) – Up 3

Wow, Coach Burdett clearly passed out the Power Rankings in the locker room. Previously, only Jackson was at the party, but last week the rest of the team arrived and I doubt anyone will surpass that score for the rest of the season. Don’t get me wrong, most of it screams unsustainable, but Aaron Jones is screaming superstar.

4. The Tuckfards (4-1) – Down 3

Okay, call it more than a chink. I mean, don’t get me wrong, they won, but putting up below 70 points is more than a warning sign. Injuries, pointless back up QB, the team already seems to need a change of tyres – and we’re only a few laps in. Has Coach Merritt got a classically unassuming waiver wire gem up his sleeve?

So there’s a new No. 1, better keep reading…

3. Forge Flyers (3-2) – No Change

McCaffrey continues to be a human cheat code, but he wasn’t enough this week. They put up a decent score despite the loss, but I’d hazard the Mike Evans game is starting to get a little less fun. Let’s see how they deal with their only personal bye week hell in Week 6…

2. IKSAN (3-2) – No Change

Okay, back to Rivers not being the guy – quite the seesaw ride this. All in all it wasn’t a bad week though, lots of TDs and lots of points, including on the bench. They just got outscored, mainly in the QB and DST positions. Unlucky to pick up another L, but nothing to panic over, a nice bounce back week to stop them hitting .500 would be handy.

1. Bear Necessities (4-1) – Up 3

I’ve been complimenting them on their consistency for a while and I’ve definitely already said Watson was the key. Can I end the blurb there? They are deserving of the top spot, a nice way to end a week in which they won the inaugural Tottenham Bowl and the Stubbs Bowl, all in one!

-

And here we are again, kudos to anyone who is committed enough to read the outro. Actually, not kudos, channel that commitment, don’t waste it here, use it to fuel your team and climb the rankings. I look forward to seeing the results next week! Peace out.
