Power Rankings: Week 8

Now we've moved past the halfway point of the regular season, we are about to cross into the second half of the entire season. The playoff race will heat up massively over the coming weeks, but who will come out on top? The power rankings are here to shed some light.

1. The Dream Team, 6-1 (1): The leagues best team just keeps going. Though they posted their first sub 100 point week this week, they still remain the best team in the league. As I said last week, the gap between this team and the others continues to narrow, but they should be able to win enough of their remaining games to achieve a playoff berth.

2. Burdettinators, 4-3 (4): Last week is exactly what we have been waiting to see from this team. A team loaded with talent that hasn't put it together thus far finally put it together last week in an impressive performance. Its really a two horse race in their division, but they are squarely in position to take the lead.

3. IKNAN, 5-2 (2): A team that quietly got off to a good start is now quietly struggling. This team has been good, but they haven't been great in recent weeks. Their team is in a flux, and they could soon be headed in the wrong direction if they don't fix it. But, they continue to win games, so its hard for me to move them down.

4. Bear Necessities, 5-2 (3): This team is starting to look like the sum of its parts. A rag tag waiver roster. Theyve been wildly inconsistent lately, and posted some sub par weeks. Like IKNAN, they continue to win, but the early season dominance we've seen by this team could be in the rear view mirror going forward. The next few weeks will be crucial for them.

5. Gridiron Gang, 4-3 (5): A team I am hesitant to move any higher despite their recent success, this team continues to play well. They currently hold the longest winning streak in the LOC and have a winning record for the first time on over two years. The coach needs to nail every player each week in order to win though, something they have always struggled with.

6. The Tuckfards, 5-2 (6): This team is based on 3 players, and that's all. Greg Olsen is the only other player providing any contribution to this team. While the 3 player monster they have is daunting, if any one of then disappoints or were to miss time, they would be relying on luck to win. Bizarrely, this is what has happened so far.

7. Tom's Tyrants, 2-5 (7): Another tough week further casts this teams season into doubt. The coach has been under immense pressure to get every decision right thus far just to give this team a chance, and has failed. While I could still see a turnaround, I feel it may be too late as far as playoffs goes. The curse it appears, is still alive and well.

8. Jeff's Seals, 2-5 (9): I'm stunned at the turnaround this team has had, truly. If they had a few more wins, this coach would be a coach of the year candidate. After losing multiple key starters this team had somehow improved. Its really impressive. Theyve posted nice scores for multiple weeks now, and I cant see it ending. Fantastic job by the new coaches.

9. ADRZ, 2-5 (8): Well, this team just looks like its hungover. After the highs of making playoffs for the first time last season, theyve regressed this year. Their key players are missing time and underperforming which hurts them, and the coach hasn't been able to compensate for it. While a turnaround is still possible, they are firmly heading south right now.

10. Forge Flyers, 0-7 (10): This team just looks like a rudderless ship. They are in complete disarray, and the coach has been unable to steady the ship. Theyve missed out on key waiver moves that could have stabilised the team, and the result is a roster that just cant perform. I hope the coach turns it around, he definitely can. They just need to avoid going 0-14, and salvage some pride

Power Rankings: Week 7

It's hard to believe this week marks the half way point in the LOC Regular Season. The months feel like years in the wait for the season to return, and when it does it goes past in a blink of an eye. That blink of an eye will no doubt feel like an eternity for some teams that are struggling, while the others will want it to slow down and enjoy the success while they can.

Power Rankings

1. The Dream Team, 5-1 (1): The best team in the LOC got back on the horse last week after a surprise loss to Gridiron Gang in Week 5. The good times keep rolling for this team, but don't mistake that for there being chinks in their armour. While they have yet to post less than 100 points, they are not worlds ahead of the teams behind them as they once were. Still, they are extremely good.

2. IKNAN, 5-1 (3): This team is quietly having an excellent season, and currently holds the longest win streak in the LOC with 5. They are not stacked with talent, but they have a very strong foundation and continue to impress. What's more they are putting The Dream Team under pressure, and that can only bode well for them.

3. Bear Necessities, 4-2 (2): After stumbling a bit the previous week, this team came back with a vengeance. While they still do remain on a core group of 3 players to get the majority of their points, they have been doing so consistently, and they usually find one or two anterior players to step up too. I can't see that changing right now.

4. Burdettinators, 3-3 (6): You might be confused as to how a team that lost and had another bad week (one of a handful). Well, they're in a good situation right now. The division is much softer than anticipated, and the first place team just suffered a blow. Coach Burdett still has a lot of talent at his disposal, and he will do enough to turn out a division win.

5. Gridiron Gang, 3-3 (5): After two stellar weeks, this team stumbled like it did early on. What changed from early on however is they got lucky and got the win this time. Sitting at .500 win percentage for the first time in over 2 years after week 1, this team looks poised to perform. Trouble is, they are 5th in the league, and more importantly 4th in the division. They'll have to push those above them in order to succeed.

6. Tom's Tyrants, 2-4 (8): Another decent week for this team, another loss. It's been a rough season so far, one very reminiscent of last year. While I believe this team will eventually round in to form, it could happen anywhere between this week and the next 4. By that point, it may be too late. They just have to hope Coach Barnes will be able to work some magic.

7. The Tuckfards, 4-2 (4): Just as I started to give this team praise and move them up the board, they take a nasty loss and lose a key player. They have the ease of their division on their side for a playoff push, but this team just isn't good enough to really challenge for the Kumar Bowl this season. The wheels could be starting to come off for Coach Merritt.

8. ADRZ, 2-4 (7): This is a team slowly moving towards disarray and confusion. They started an inactive player, which is only the latest in a litany of problems for this coach. The team can definitely perform on it's day, but it is so volatile that it makes it almost impossible to control for Coach Wells. They still have a chance to push for the division, but they need to find stability, fast.

9. Jeff's Seals, 2-4 (10): You've gotta hand it to these coaches, they've shown determination and grit to keep battling after what looked like a completely disastrous start to their career. While I commend them on their recent success, this is a team definitely over performing. Credit to the coach to get it out of them. Who knows, this coach might surprise. We've seen stranger things in the LOC...

10. Forge Flyers, 0-6 (9): This team is in uncharted territory. No team has ever started a season 0-6, and sadly, this following sentence must also be said. This is the worst start to a season in the entirety of the LOC's 6 year history. An extremely unfair statement, as this team had some very nice games at the start of the year, but that's the position they are in now. My heart goes out to them, I hope they can turn it around.

2014: 5 Down, 11 To Go

The weather outside may be far from delightful, but wherever you are you can always get that nice, warm, fuzzy feeling of listening to another episode of the LOC Report. Co-host joins Commissioner Stubbs for a chin wag once again.

Power Rankings: Week 6

Just as you thought we were getting some clarity in the LOC, Week 5 came along and made you think twice. This week was a perfect example of any given Sunday. The struggling teams can still surprise, and the good teams have chinks in their armour. But are the power rankings as sensitive as the week-on-week variation of the LOC?

Power Rankings

1. The Dream Team, 4-1 (1): Yeah, this team lost, so what? They still hung up 118 points. They've still yet to dip under 100. And, oh yeah, they played a team that has a historically good record causing upsets against the best teams. While they are without Jennings this week (and possibly Foster), they are still the best team. But the seat is getting warmer, and the wheels might be starting to get wonky. But don't kid yourself, they were never going undefeated...

2. Bear Necessities, 3-2 (2): Yeah, this week wasn't great, but it's the type of week nearly every team has had this season. This has actually been a blip thus far in their season, and although that might be because Luck was playing out of skin, there is no denying they remain one of the better teams. What happens next week will be something to monitor closely for this team though.
3. IKNAN, 4-1 (3): As predicted coming into the season, this team is quietly putting together nice performances. They aren't doing it in a particularly pretty way, but they are getting it done. This team is starting to get the feeling of an ultra-consistent scorer, with limited upside. But hey, it's gotten them to 4-1, and if they can keep it up I don't see why the good times won't keep rolling.

4. The Tuckfards, 4-1 (6): I'm bewildered. I know I say it every year, and the last few years I happily eat my words. But this is just ridiculous. The obvious 2 came up trumps for them again, but the likes of Eagles D, Brian Quick and Greg Olsen have no business doing what they did. They're here only because until the personnel they have is massively over performing right now.

5. Gridiron Gang, 2-3 (7): This team hasn't put up back-to-back 100 point performances in over two seasons. They also set a franchise record for points scored. This team just loves to play the leagues best, they just always seem to bring their A game. They got rather fortunate, but this performance reminds us of the Gridiron Gang of old, opposed to what it's been recently. The coach needs to keep doing what he's been doing the last few weeks.

6. Burdettinators, 3-2 (4): A very nice performance brought home another win, but this coach still has to be a bit worried. This team is winning ugly right now, and they are very reliant on a few players each week. To their credit, these players are also very consistent, but you'd like to see something from the rest of the roster. If they can light a fire under the rest of the roster, this team could easily take off into the stratosphere.

7. ADRZ, 2-3 (8): This is such a hard team to read. The past two weeks, to their credit, they've had quite good weeks, and ended up losing. But you also get the sense what they've been doing is their ceiling, and if they're losing these kinds of games, it doesn't bode well for the rest of their season. They have the ability to have a nice season still, but their fate is squarely hanging in the balance.

8. Tom's Tyrants, 2-3 (9): Much like ADRZ, this teams fate is hanging in the balance. Two nice weeks in a row, two losses. Again, you get the sense this is kind of the limit for them. They're definitely becoming more consistent, and could start to come on stronger in the next few weeks (akin to last season), but this team is a project. Luckily for their fans, the GM is an expert team builder.

9. Forge Flyers, 0-5 (5): You get the sense the wheels are starting to fall off in Forge town. After a brutal first 3 weeks of scoring well and losing, the last two weeks they've looked a shell of their former selves. While they will definitely rebound from an abysmal week last week, you have to wonder if they can bounce back. At 0-5, it's going to be extremely hard to salvage their season, but anything is possible in the LOC.

10. Jeff's Seals, 1-4 (10): Congratulations to Coaches Allen and Fisher on their first win of the season, they did it in style with a franchise record amount of points. But they must temper expectations. The points have not been flowing freely for them to this point, and a lot of their players struggled. But who knows, a waiver move here or there and they might surprise some people.

Power Rankings: Week 5

4 Games in and we are starting to see some separation. But here's the thing, a lot of this separation is by wins and losses only. Through the first month of the season, there are only one or two teams we can see are either a cut above, or below, the rest. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next month.

Power Rankings.

1. The Dream Team, 4-0 (1): Another day at the office for this team. So far they are looking like one of the most likely teams to achieve a play off berth, and deservedly so. Yet to dip under 100 points, enduring a couple of blows, they continue to have a very nice season. I know, I say it every week, the wheels could come off at some point, but the more weeks it keeps working, the less I think it will happen.

2. Bear Necessities, 3-1 (2): Another solid week by this team, but before I jump on the hype train I am going to take a moment of pause here. They have been extremely good, but they are also extremely dependant upon Andrew Luck. Much like teams we've seen in the past, they ride the QB and live or die by it. While this is by no means a bad strategy, it tends to lead to some struggles at times.

3. IKNAN, 3-1 (6): That was sorely needed for this team. After a strong start, and some sputtering in the following weeks, they managed to right the ship last week and bring home a win. While somewhat fortunate to be 3-1, there is no denying this team has the talent to be where they are. While last week was a step in the right direction, they need to find consistency in order to continue their success.

4. Burdettinators, 2-2 (5): One word. Finally. Although it wasn't quite what we expected of this Burdettinators team, they have a solid week and brought home the win. They needed to rely on a player stepping up at the last moment, but a W is a W. They really need to build off of this performance, but like IKNAN, they took a step in the right direcction last week.

5. Forge Flyers, 0-4 (3): You have to sympathise with this team, it has been a rough start to the year. While the first 3 weeks they arguably deserved something from, I don't think anyone (coach Leach included) can be too upset about a loss last week. But, be that as it may, they still have a very good roster and should get it going at some point. 0-4 will be very hard to overcome however.

6. The Tuckfards, 3-1 (9): Before you think I'm coming around to The Tuckfards, I'm gonna stop you right there. This is an admittance that yes, they are 3-1, yes, they are capable of nice weeks. But as we all know, when you're reliant on 2 or 3 players (which The Tuckfards completely are) there is only so much you can do, and they will be very up and down throughout the year. Some weeks. that might be enough.

7. Gridiron Gang, 1-3 (7): Another team that you really have to feel for. If they had started one different player each week, they'd be 4-0 right now. Further to that, it was the same player. Further to that, it was the coaches favourite of all time, Tom Brady. Here's a lesson folks, don't let your heroes cloud your judgement. But it's not all on the coach, few would expect the poor start Brady has. Look for this team to get going with a new signal caller in charge.

8. ADRZ, 2-2 (8): Look, we know what ADRZ is at this point. They had a nice week, they did, but it's probably the upper end of what they will be able to achieve on a weekly basis. What's more, they were just simply outscored last week, and the loss isn't on them (but it's karma for what happened at the week 4 wembley game last year...). They have potential to put up a nice score each week, but the opposite can also be said.

9. Tom's Tyrants, 2-2 (4): Well....it's going to be another roller coaster season for this coach I feel. The team just looks out of sorts right now, and that looked to be changing in Week 3. This team definitely has the potential to turn it around, and still be one of the best, but until I see it happen (and on a consistent basis), they are just simply not good enough. If anyone can turn it around, Coach Barnes can.

10. Jeff's Seals, 0-4 (10): They say that you learn more in defeat than you do in victory. Going off of that logic, Coach Allen and Fisher should win the Stubbs trophy in 2015. This year however, they will likely have to settle for the Toilet Bowl. While this team can definitely nab a win on any given Sunday, they arguably enter every game as the clear underdog. My heart goes out to them, I hope they can turn it around.

2014: 4 Down, 12 To Go

Commissioner Stubbs and Co host Chris Leach are coming back to your ears once again for another weekly review of the LOC. A somewhat tame week in comparison to the last few, but still packed full of excitement!
